I read somewhere that the song is about the Iraq War. Someone said he’d met Meredith and she was annoyed that he assumed she was a vegetarian because of it.

Of course, he could have been talking complete shit.

I feel like the song is referring to someone who’s being abusive to someone else. Perhaps the “Kill the turkey, shoot him down/Pluck his feathers, make him growl” is all referring to someone hurting another in an abusive relationship. I also feel like the whole song is from the side of the abuser rather than the person being abused. It also could be trying to portray animal cruelty but obviously only Meredith would really know.

anyways, the song is very interesting and beautiful.
